This month we’re partnering with Refinery29 to celebrate women who are reaching higher, thinking bigger and changing the world. One thing we didn’t anticipate – meeting an incredibly accomplished boss lady whose romantic teen dream actually came true. Especially not this one – locking eyes with a gorgeous musician onstage, falling madly in love and becoming the muse he writes passionate songs about. Blogger Laura Gummerman is living that fantasy.
As founder of The Band Wife Blog, Laura shares what happens after “happily-ever-after”: traveling the world from one city to the next, living the rock ‘n’ roll life with her musician husband and their daughter, Lola, and writing for A Beautiful Mess. She shares style tips and her take on social media below.
Bet you didn’t know this about Laura:
Sometimes people think being a home blogger that your life and home are perfect all the time, but it's not! I can make quite a mess too!
How does style help you express yourself?
Wearing clothes that feel like "me" help me feel confident and comfortable in my own skin.
Why do you love the fit and feel of Liverpool Jeans?
I basically live in skinny fit jeans with a bit of stretch so I can work and move easily in them. My Liverpool jeans are the perfect fit! I also like to wear oversized tops and furry coats a lot, so a slim pair of jeans also allows me to balance out that volume on top as well.
What brings you joy?
My family and a nice long shopping trip from time to time!
What’s one way you’d like to make a difference in the world?
Right now I'd like to help support other new moms and let them know they aren't alone in such a hard time and new season in life. It's great to share your struggles with other women and help support each other in person and over social media as well.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to women about style?
Love yourself! Pick your favorite assets and find cuts and pieces that flatter those parts to feel your best.
Where do you draw style inspiration from?
I like items that have a bit of rock ’n’ roll edge to them so it's usually more of a musician-on-a-day-off look for me.
